Besides, having car-like handling would mean making other compromises including increased complexity, reduced strength and sacrificing quality to maintain the overall cost within market expectations. Well, these compromises are in order if you’re targeting to drop your kids to school or go to the shops. They aren’t suitable for ferrying hundreds of kilos of gear on rough terrains into remote places. Only truck-like handling will do.

A manual Hilux is the absolute best choice for robust and reliable transport in the wilderness. It not only maximizes your time in the outback but also capitalizes on fully functioning arms and legs. This touring truck performs maximally without any glitch. It is also comfortable and can drive surprisingly well.
A UTE isn’t an excellent weekend warrior. It has a less powerful engine, fewer mod cons, uncomfortable interior and a less advanced ride than a luxury 4WD. You cannot also use it legally to carry seven people. These are some of the things you need to watch out for when choosing the best weekend warrior.
