Based on the spy shots of the heavily camouflaged test vehicle, French carmaker Peugeot is working on a revamped 2017 model year for its 3008 crossovers. When this model finally rolls out at the end of the year, it would be the second generation of this Peugeot crossover. And if speculations are correct, we should expect to see the Peugeot 3008 2017 this October at the 2016 Paris Auto Show.
Peugeot 3008 2017 – Design and Features:
It’s hard to ascertain how the Peugeot 3008 2017 would really look like because of the heavy camouflage cladding used to cover the test mule. However, the changes in the body’s structure give us a clue that it would be completely redesigned.
Photos of the interior reveal a refreshed digital instrument hub inside the cabin. Since there has been no official word from the French automaker, we are unsure whether it would be a standard feature or an optional upgrade. To give you an idea of how it would look, think of the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster of the Audi.
With this refresh, Peugeot is optimistic that it would be able to get on par with its closest rivals like the Nissan Qashqai. The restyling of the 3008 suggests that it wants to take a dip into the small SUV segment. A good marketing moves considering that this area is currently the fastest growing and also the most popular.
Two years after the first 3008 was introduced, it caught the attention of car enthusiasts and experts and have gained popularity for being the first hybrid that runs on a diesel engine. For the 2017 offering, this setup is still very likely although we’re expecting a more conventional gas-electric setup to be made available. This is so because the current 3008 has dumped its diesel-electric mode.
The 2017 Peugeot 3008 continues to use the same EMP2 setup that we’ve seen first in the Peugeot 3008 compact hatch. The lightweight platform is capable of adopting different powertrains. With regards to the exterior design and styling, we anticipate the next generation 3008 to take inspiration from the recent Quartz crossover concept.
Peugeot 3008 2017 – Under the Hood:
The crossover will be fitted with the latest generation engines, including a 1.2-liter three cylinder gas engine that runs the 308 SW. And just like the Nissan Juke, an optional All-wheel drive will be available for the high-powered engines. As for the gearbox, car buyers can choose between manual and an automatic 6-speed transmission used in 308.
Peugeot 3008 2017 – Release Date and Price
The Peugeot 3008 2017 are expected on the market in October this year with a price of $23,500.
