2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Review

The test version of the upcoming 2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe has been caught testing several times and some shots have also been seen online. The luxury crossover segment is where all the competition is, as it seems from the newest developments in the automobile industry. The Porsche is in no mood to let rivals like Mercedes-Benz and BMW walk away with all the accolades. The Cayenne is among the most popular luxury crossovers ever made, beyond any question. However, the Porsche is going to launch Coupe styled variant of Cayenne for 2019. It will be released in 2018- as per industry sources.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe – Panamera-like Design Style

The shots of the upcoming 2018 Porsche Cayenne Coupe hint at a Panamera-like design style. It is expected that Coupe will have the capacity to accommodate 5 passengers. This is logical given the sloping roof style. However, the cabin is still expected to be spacious. It is expected to be lower than the regular Cayenne. Overall, you cannot help feeling that the exterior styling is a blend of Panamera and regular Cayenne. It is likely that the cabin will be like that or regular Cayenne with some additional enhancements packed in. However, the cargo space is likely to be compromised. It is not known if the Coupe will be released as a single model or there will be more trim choices.

Safety and Amenities

Given the fact all Cayenne variants from Porsche are loaded to the hilt in terms of safety and amenities, the upcoming 2019 Porsche Cayenne is not going to be an exception. In most likelihood, the Coupe will get the features present in existing base Cayenne trim and advanced features may be offered at extra cost. As always, the Porsche offers extensive customization options for its models.

Default safety features will include set of airbags, traction control, rearview camera, parking sensors, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with forwarding collision alert system. Additional safety measures include automatic dimming mirrors, automatic emergency braking and moving object detection. It is not clear if Porsche will offer the additional safety and luxury features as standalone upgrade or pat of different packages.

Infotainment of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne will be equipped with an enhanced version of Porsche’s Communication Management infotainment setup. It may get a 7 inch or bigger touch display to control the features. The infotainment setup is going to be compatible with Smartphone and offers support for both USB and Bluetooth. It will also support Sat Nav and DAB radio. Additional options will include 20 in alloy wheels, LED fog lights, Alcantara upholstery, rear heated seats, the enhanced sound system from Bose etc.

Powertrain Rumors

It is not clear which powertrain will be used in the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. The test version was driven by an electric engine. This is not amazing given the fact Porsche does have the plug-in hybrid model in its portfolio, much like Audi. Maybe the model was a hybrid version and at the time of snapping, the only electric mode was being used. However, it is too early to rule out the scope of Porsche using regular engines in the model. It may be released with various powertrains eventually. According to some rumors, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne coupe will come with a 4.1-liter V-6 that will develop 380 HP. It is also expected to come with E-Hybrid model, the 3.0-liter V-6 and electric motor combo that will send 410 horsepower to the wheels.

The engine may be coupled with the company’s famous 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox. Like all Porsche models, acceleration is going to its strong point and ride is expected to be near silent.

Price and Availability

Not much is known about the pricing of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. According to some experts, the new model will have a price tag of around $60,000. The additional features, whether bought as single or as part of the package, will add to the cost. The release date could be in the mid-2018.

Summing it up

Since rivals like BMW and Rolls-Royce have already hopped onto the Coupe crossover bandwagon, it is only logical Porsche will follow the same path. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne may take some more time to hit the roads but it is expected to be a capable contender. The details on powertrain are unclear though it is expected to get a hybrid powertrain option. The styling is great and expected amenities will satisfy the target buyers. The Porsche however, should not price the upcoming 2019 Porsche Cayenne too high since rivals have unveiled some enticing offerings.
