2018 VW Touareg Redesign, Release Date

Following the lead of the successful Audi Q7, the 2018 VW Touareg will roll out with a much lighter construction come 2017. The third-generation Touareg features an evolutionary leap from its predecessor which was first unveiled in 2011 in Australia. The current Touareg model has just received a mid-cycle update last 2015 and this hints some major updates for its next model. Recent leaked images of the next-generation VW Touareg may be mistaken as an Audi Q7 for its striking similarities. But upon closer look, one could see that it is indeed a VW test mule because of its badge. Furthermore, the license plate shows that it is registered close to German carmaker’s head research and development hub in Brunswick. Other features that make us think it’s a VW are its slightly shorter wheelbase, a makeshift exhaust system, and an ill-fitting body panel – which are not characteristic of an Audi.

2018 VW Touareg – Redesign Exterior and Interior

The 2018 VW Touareg is expected to borrow the flexible MLB Evo platform, although much shorter. This new platform will also be seen in numerous models not just from Volkswagen but also from Porsche and Bentley. Some insiders note that the development of the next generation Touareg will be closely patterned with the new Porsche Cayenne, which will also debut next year and introduced as the 2018 model year.

Exterior styling is expected to follow an evolutionary path, which mixes elements that come from the newly redesigned Passat model sold in other car markets. We’re expecting a lighter Touareg that packs more efficient powertrains, better convenience and safety technology.

Inside this magnificent SUV, many new upgrades can be seen. The seating is made of premium grade leather materials. The stitching design will be retained. However, additional buttons can be found on the steering wheel.

2018 VW Touareg – Engine Options

Aside from shedding weight, the new 2018 VW Touareg will also be getting a more efficient diesel and petrol engines. It’s also not far-fetched for an advanced 3.6-liter V6 diesel-electric hybrid and plug-in petrol hybrid powertrains – and the latest 6-speed automatic gearbox – to run this automobile. Other new technologies that could be seen with this SUV include several driver assist systems, digital gauge cluster, and many other safety features.

2018 VW Touareg – Release Date and Price

We are anticipating the 2018 VW Touareg to grace auto shows this 2016 or the early part of next year. It will then be made available in car dealerships sometime next year and soon would be hitting the road. But before the Touareg will be unveiled, take note that a new seven-sitter SUV will be developed in Chattanooga, Tennessee and released alongside Touareg. The Touareg would be positioned as the premium model. We haven’t received any reliable info about its possible price but it’ll surely be not that pricey.
