2018 Range Rover Sport Facelift

The iconic British carmaker, now owned by Tata Motors, has revamped the midsized luxury SUV aka 2018 Range Rover Sport. The luxury SUV segment is growing rapidly and this has compelled various car manufacturers to come up with revamped versions of their popular models. The origin of the model can be traced back to 2005 though it was only in 2013 the sports nomenclature was attached to it. The majority of changes incorporated in the 2018 model are in the cabin, not so much in exterior styling.

2018 Range Rover Sport – Feature Overview:

The Land Rover Range Rover models all have a somewhat traditional boxy build and the 2018 Sport is no exception. However, the corners are rounded, giving the SUV a trendier look. The new model 2018 Range Rover Sport has plenty of aluminum in its body which helps keep its weight on the lower side. The same technique has been adopted by the German rivals of late. The fog lights are changed and wheels have also been revamped for 2018. There are 5 trims- entry level SE, HSE, Supercharged, Autobiography and range-topping SVR. The SE gets 19-inch alloy wheels and later trims get 20 and 21-inch wheels. For 2018, a few new exterior colors have been added.

The cabin of 2018 Range Rover Sport is lavish and very comfortable. You will love the revamped infotainment setup which gets the 8-inch display in SE and 10.2-inch touch screen in higher trims. The dashboard now looks sophisticated and less cluttered than the predecessor. The seat and inside trim quality are absolutely impeccable.

Technology and Safety Departments:

The 2018 Range Rover Sport can give its German rivals a run for their money in technology and safety departments. Base SE trim gets an 8 speaker Range Rover Audio System. The Autobiography and SVR trims get a top notch Meridian surround sound system with 19 speakers. The infotainment setup is called InControl Touch Pro system. It now features enhanced navigation and connectivity options. It is also fully compatible with Smartphones. In Autobiography trim, there is 3-zone climate control.

In safety department, you get features like Blind Spot Assist, Advanced Tow Assist, Emergency Braking and also Intelligent Speed Limiter. The Blind Spot Assist can also function as Lane Departure Assist. You also get Adaptive Cruise Control. Of particular importance is the car’s Low Traction Launch which is part of Terrain Response 2 system. It works very well on muddy roads and slippery surfaces and traction are maximized. However, the feature works only when vehicle speed does not exceed 18 mph. The advanced Tow Assist is a feature you normally do not see in many luxury SUVs but the 2018 LR Sport comes with it.

The fact that JLR has not made many changes to the exterior is actually good and most changes take place inside the cabin. The SUV features an enhanced infotainment setup which is loaded to the hilt with driver-friendly features. In safety section, the car is nearly unbeatable and the excellent Low Traction Launch deserves a special mention. The pricing covers a wide range and that gives the buyers plenty of options to choose from. It does face some competition from Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5 but the Land Rover sport remains a commendable luxury SUV offering superb value for the price.
