The newest 2018 Peugeot 2008 manufactured by the French automaker will refresh their lineup with new innovations. The Peugeot 2008, after making debut in 2013 got largely favorable reviews. While the compact crossover SUV was liked for its large trunk, competitive running costs and classy interior, it also got flak for odd looks and average ride quality. For 2018, the Peugeot has managed to iron out those glitches and the model is now a better contender to take on onslaughts of rivals.
2018 Peugeot 2008 – Exterior and Interior Styling
Some of the changes in the 2018 Peugeot 2008 lay in the exterior styling. Now, you see a vertically-slatted grille with the lion shaped company logo positioned in the middle of it. The old horizontal pattern is gone and the “Peugeot” lettering is now on the grille and not on the bonnet. It also looks sportier compared to the earlier version. The spoiler and also roof rails add to the stylishness. The tail lamps get lion claw-like shape. However, there are 4 trims- Access, Active, Allure and top end GT. The GT trim gets special 17-inch alloy wheels. It also gets glossy black accents. In upper trims, you get leather-wrapped steering wheel along with the panoramic sunroof. In the cargo area, the boost is welcome. The front seats are nice but the backseats can seat two adults comfortably.
The infotainment setup in 2018 Peugeot 2008 supports Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. The seven-inch touch screen display is what you get to control such features. Furthermore, the majority of amenities are reserved for the range-topping GT trim. The GT trim gets dual-zone automatic air conditioning, sat-nav system. Its infotainment display gets an abundance of red LEDs and the color is also used in the cabin a lot. Some models get parking assistance and a rear-view camera. The trims also get safety features like Active City Brake, Hill Assist and much more.
2018 Peugeot 2008 – Powertrain
The new Peugeot 2008 comes with oodles of engine choices for buyers. There are 3 diesel and 5 gasoline engines you may choose from. The sad thing is the omission of AWD across all trims. However, the model gets a feature named Grip control and it includes 5 modes to tackle varying terrains. The three-cylinder, 1.2-liter gasoline unit is fine as is the 1.6-liter diesel one. So, the horsepower will be in the range from 82 to 120 HP. The engines are clubbed with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox. The top gasoline engine can be clubbed with a six-speed manual gearbox.
2018 Peugeot 2008 – Price and Development
It is likely that the Peugeot 2008 will be a tad costlier than the 2017 model. So, the base trim cost could be around $20,000. The top trim price may be close to $25,000. It will be made available for sale in late 2017.
Summing it up
The 2018 Peugeot 2008 is a nice choice in compact SUV segment. The lack of AWD notwithstanding, the Peugeot loads the car with enough goodies to stack up against rivals like Renault Captur.
