The upcoming 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport hogged plenty of attention and made headlines when it was exhibited at the American International Auto Show late in 2016. In fact, it is going to be the US variant of Nissan Qashqai, a model which is very popular in European markets. It will lock horns with popular segment rivals like Buick Encore and Honda HR-V.
2018 Nissan Rogue Sport – Design and Colors
Since the Rogue Sport is based on the Rogue crossover, design similarities will be there. There was a 2017 model and 2018 version looks somewhat similar to the first iteration. The 2018 Rogue Sport is built on Nissan C-vehicle platform now. Typical Nissan design elements including V-shaped grille and sleek angular LED headlamps are there. It will be launched in several enticing exterior hues like Glacier White, Gun Metallic, Palatial Ruby and Nitro Lime etc. It is likely to have three trims- S, SV, and SL. Wheel sizes vary from 17 to 19 inch.
The size reduction has resulted in reduced cargo space. However, a cargo space of 22.9 cubic feet in a vehicle of this size is not bad as such. On the brighter side, the 2018 Rogue Sport weighs about 300 pounds less compared to the original Rogue. The cabin is more or less similar and it looks sleek. Dual-zone Climate control is offered in SV and SL trims.
Entertainment and Safety Features
The compact crossover buyers are mostly technology lovers and Nissan is aware of that! So, the 2018 Rogue Sport has a good dosage of entertainment and safety features. The Nissan connect infotainment system is there with an option for Navigation. It also supports Bluetooth and USB.
Safety features are aplenty and there is Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield. It includes features like forwarding collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic monitoring etc. In top trim, you can avail around view monitor along with MOD- moving object detection.
2018 Nissan Rogue Sport – Engine Specification
When it comes to sheer power, the 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport is a tad less powerful than Rogue but not much. The 2.0-liter inline engine generates 141 HP which should be decent for urban driving. However, you may feel some lag if the car is fully loaded and you take it to the highway. It will also get Xtronic CVT and AWD. The Nissan has not said anything on fuel economy but it should be enhanced.
2018 Nissan Rogue Sport – Date of Release and Price
The 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport will be unveiled for sale in late 2017. The company has not revealed the price but it is going to be priced competitively.
Summing it up
The 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport seems to be a promising compact crossover that has nice styling and advanced technological features. With right pricing, it can be a hit in this segment.
