2018 Nissan Murano Redesign

There are plenty of midsize crossovers in the market nowadays but the upcoming 2018 Nissan Murano will be the unique beast. For 2018 it gets a few changes which are useful. By the way, the exterior design of the new model will not be very different from the earlier model.

2018 Nissan Murano – A lot of New Features:

The cabin of 2018 Nissan Murano is aesthetic and practically designed. The five adults can seat without space crunch. Its cargo space and in-cabin storage options are pretty generous. The nice thing is that even with the optional moonroof, headroom is not compromised.  Nissan’s much touted zero gravity seats are there and they are actually quite comfortable. The company has deployed noise cancellation tech and materials to ensure buyers can enjoy the quiet ride in the Murano. However, the cabin lacks any wood trim.

There are 4 trim levels- S, SL, SV and Platinum. The boomerang-style headlights, wide V-shaped grille, and floating roof make the Murano appear quite a stunner on roads. The floating roof design is not new but it gels well with the Murano’s exterior.

Safety and Technology:

Safety wise, the car scores pretty well.  All models get multiple airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, hill-start assist. Murano SL and Platinum trims get blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts. The optional in SL and Platinum trims is automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning system.

The new model may not be a luxury oriented crossover but its interior materials ooze quality. Even the base trim gets good quality materials and plenty of amenities. Furthermore, the amenities come close to those offered in pricier luxury category cars like Acura MDX. All trims barring the base S get 8.0-inch touchscreen powered infotainment system and navigation.

The Murano S gets dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlights, Bluetooth, rearview camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, rear privacy glass and also a cruise control. The SV adds the leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, navigation and fog lamps. SV’s optional Premium Package brings Bose audio system, heated cloth seats. SL trim brings heated front seats, leather seats, surround-view camera system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and also a 360-degree parking camera. However, the range-topping Platinum trim gets features like heated front seats, heated rear seats, power-folding back seats, 20-inch alloy wheels and LED headlamps.

2018 Nissan Murano – Powertrain Details:

In the new Nissan Murano, you get a V-6 3.5-liter engine that makes 260 HP. You may go for either FWD or AWD. There is no special driving mode but the driving experience is quite decent. It is not very agile but it would be wrong to call the engine slouch. Paired with a CVT, it can reach 0-to-60 mph in about 7.5 second which is average.

2018 Nissan Murano – Price, Release Date and Conclusion:

The pricing for 2018 Nissan Murano may start at $30,000. The Platinum trim price can be close to $40,000. It will be launched in mid-2017.

The 2018 Nissan Murano is a nice midsized crossover that is a decent performer but lags in some areas. The styling is great and interior looks classy. But engine choice is limited and cargo space is not great.
