The Jaguar plans to jump into the electric vehicle market by launching its first all-electric car, the 2018 Jaguar I-Pace. The company claims I-Pace will be able to deliver a familiar Jaguar performance while still being 100% electric. The first version of Jaguar I-Pace was unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto show and recently it made another appearance at 2017 Geneva Motor Show in all its glory. The company spokesman promised that the prototype resembles 80% to the finished product which we’ll be able to see soon.
2018 Jaguar I-Pace – Remarkable Design
Judging by the prototype spotted at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the 2018 Jaguar I-Pace has a polished design with a thick bonnet surrounded by tall wheel arches harboring 23-inch wheels. The long and sloping windscreen makes it look like a car build in the mold of F-SUV. The interior of the upcoming I-Pace gives the feeling of a luxury with touch screen and materials that are carved out of wood, and aluminum.
The center of the cabin is roomier thanks to the compact motor and concentric arrangement. The roof consists of a panoramic glass with LEDS embedded into it which makes for a fabulous visual effect. Furthermore, the seats of the 2018 Jaguar I-Pace are covered with Windsor leather. The door trims look stylish due to walnut veneer and Aluminium. All in all the interior is what you’d expect from a Jaguar.
Engine and Performance
The company says that 2018 Jaguar I-Pace has the ability to go from 0-62 mph in four seconds and that consumers will be able to enjoy a range of 300 miles on just one charge. The I-Pace will also have the capacity to deliver staggering power output of 395 hp in addition to 700NM of torque thanks to its 90kWh Lithium-ion battery which will power two electric motors. The battery will be charged in less than 2 hours through a rapid charge point, but if you’re in a hurry you can charge up to 80% of the battery in 90 minutes by employing a 50-kW DC fast charger.
The only drawback 2018 Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV seems to have, at least in terms of its performance is its sheer weight. Weighing at a mind-boggling 4,700 pounds, the I-pace apparently seems too heavy to offer the performance specs.
Price and When will hit the Road
The Jaguar has suggested that I-pace will cost 10-15% more than the F-Pace causing some expert to speculate the initial price is under $100,000. The Jaguar I-Pace is all set to hit the roads in the middle of 2018, but rumors have it that the company has already started taking deposits and as many as 350 people have signed up to buy this new SUV.
