The upcoming model 2018 GMC Terrain will get a new design and diesel engine. This model will hit the market redesigned in almost every segment. The GMC Company reveals this refreshed vehicle on January 9, during the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This certainly means that we can expect it on the dealerships this summer. Compared to the previous model, this one will be redesigned and Company expects the high popularity of this vehicle.
2018 GMC Terrain – New Platform:
The new model will be underpinned by the new platform. The word is about the GM’s D2XX platform. That means that this model shares the platform with the Chevrolet Equinox. Not only the platform, but also all the major components. This model will come with few trim levels including SL, SLE, SLT as well as Denali. When it comes to redesigns, we can start from the exterior design. This model will be certainly more muscular and more attractive compared to the current one.
The front side of the GMC Terrain will be especially appealing and here we can expect very prominent and distinctive front fascia made from chrome. At the center of the grille, we can see large GMC lettering. The headlights will be also slightly modified and it will use the newest LED technology. Under the grille, the GMC Terrain will have even more massive front bumper compared to the previous model, and here we can see more elegant openings for fog lights and large air intakes.
Inside, this model will be updated in order to provide more elegance and a higher dose of luxury. The high tech section will be improved as well. We can expect 7.0-inch touchscreen display that will be available with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Also, the 8.0-inch touchscreen display will be optional. This model will provide surround vision camera system, low-speed forward automatic braking, lane departure warning, side blind zone detect, Wifi hotspot capability, and many others as well.
When it comes to engine section, the most recent GMC Terrain will offer three engine options. The base engine will be 1.5-liter gas four engine that will be capable of generating 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. The second engine is a 2.0-liter that will have a max power output of 252 horsepower and 262 lb-ft. of torque.
The third option will be 1.6-liter diesel four instead of 3.6-liter V6 that is offered in the current model. This engine will be capable of producing up to 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. Both gasoline engine will be mated to nine-speed automatic transmissions. The newly diesel engine will be paired with the six-speed auto gearbox. According to some rumors, the diesel engine will have a fuel economy of 40 mpg on the highway. We can expect this GMC Terrain in summer, while the prices are unknown yet.
