The Gothenburg-based carmaker Volvo is known for producing top-class vehicles that follow its tradition of style and safety. Under its wings are the popular XC, S, and V-series. Consistent with all these car models is their simplistic yet stylish design, functional and powerful engineering, and authenticity of materials.
One of its best selling models is the Volvo XC70. The 2017 XC70 is a crossover variant of the Volvo V70 – an executive car that was introduced in 1996. The XC70 was a special AWD version and was originally tagged as the Volvo V70 XC. Since it went on sale in 1998, the XC70 has gained popularity. The striking characteristics of the XC70 are its powerful performance and singular design. Now on its third generation (which was launched in 2007), the Volvo XC70 is due for some major redesign. Anticipation is high on the upcoming 2017 Volvo XC70 which is seen to help boost the Swedish carmaker’s presence in the crossover segment. According to some insider info, the 2017 year model will come fully redesigned especially that the 2016 year model won’t be seeing any new changes.
2017 Volvo XC70: Inside and Out
Marketed since 2007, the existing Volvo XC70 2017 will get some major redesigns. As a new model, car shoppers can expect plenty of significant modifications. The fourth-generation XC70 will likely borrow the XC90 platform, which also known as the Volvo Scalable Product Architecture. The basic features we love with this crossover remains but will be further refined. The 2017 Volvo XC70 features a station waggon body style that is capable of driving in off-road condition. This engineering gives the car a higher ground clearance which translates into better overall performance.
The 2017 Volvo XC70 will follow the automaker’s current design and styling language. The front fascia would get new headlamps and would be fitted with daytime running LED lights, not to mention the aesthetic and huge front grille. The interiors will still use premium leather materials and will be fitted with the design solutions available with the other new models of Volvo.
2017 Volvo XC70: What’s Running Under the Hood
Beneath the hood of 2017, Volvo XC70 will carry the new lineup of engines from the company. The current engines are up for major re-engineering to make them more powerful and fuel efficient. XC70 variants will likely run on T5 and T6 petrol engines which pack a powerful 254 and 316 hp respectively. Other trims will run on diesel engines, such as the twin-turbo D5 with its 228 hp and the D4 with 190 hp. Another variant will carry the fuel-efficient hybrid engine – the T8 model that is powered by 60 kW electric motor and 2.0-liter petrol engine, giving it a total power over 400 hp. All engines are coupled with the new 8-spee Geartronic automatic transmission.
